Despite its popularity, Madhouse Studio never renewed Parasyte -the maxim– for season 2. Based on where and how the anime ended, it seems unlikely for another season to happen. The story ended in a similar manner that the plot from the original manga concluded. The publication ended way back in 1995.
Due to the lack of source material, it”s easy to deduce that a second season might no longer happen. However, in the unlikely event that Netflix decides to renew the anime for another season, the streamer will have to create a new storyline for the new season since the first season has already exhausted the original source material.

What Is The Plot Of Parasyte -the maxim-?
Teenage boy Izumi Shinichi lives a regular and peaceful life. He is from a very quiet neighborhood, and he likes to get away from any kind of trouble. However, his life turns upside down when parasitic aliens arrive and start world domination. These parasitic aliens look like tiny, harmless worms. But they can be very dangerous once they get into people”s brains through the nose and ears. The aliens will then take full control of the human body.
As people fell prey to the parasitic aliens, Izumi saved himself after the alien parasite that entered his body got buried in his arm. The parasite retains its own physical space within his arm without taking over his cognitive capacity.
The parasite tries to control Izumi, but he resists. After a while, the boy and the alien strike a deal. The parasite agrees to help Izumi fight other aliens in the world in exchange for letting it stay on his body as a host. Through this, Izumi becomes the last hope of humanity.
